Founded in Halifax in 2004 by Kevin W. Riles, Sightline began as a firm specializing in municipal planning and development approvals. Over the years, we expanded its expertise to include land development consulting, commercial real estate, and architecture, growing alongside the needs of its clients.
In 2022, Planning Managers Jane Rideout and Isabelle Choumline joined the team, bringing additional depth and strategic expertise. In 2025, Sightline strengthened its internal operations with the addition of Senior Finance + Business Manager Laura Trevelin and Operations + HR Manager Delaney Kunitz-Martin.
In 2026, Sightline entered an exciting new chapter with the launch of two complementary businesses: Rabahi + Riles Sightline Realty, established in partnership with RE/MAX Nova, brings together Mary Rabahi’s award-winning residential real estate expertise and Kevin’s extensive commercial real estate experience. In August, Sightline Architecture + Design was formed through a partnership between licensed architect Kevin W. Riles and Brent Robertson,NSAA, adding nearly two decades of architectural design and project management experience.
Today, Sightline brings together three complementary businesses under one roof, offering clients an integrated approach to their projects. From land feasibility, planning approvals, community engagement, architecture and design, development consulting, and residential and commercial real estate.
Sightline supports clients by managing their development projects, from housing to commercial and beyond. We work collaboratively with our clients to navigate the technically challenging, politically sensitive, cumbersome municipal approval processes to overcome the bureaucratic red tape.
Originally from Windsor, Ontario, Brent’s professional foundation began in Halifax, after completing his Masters of Architecture at Dalhousie University in 2010. After graduation, he gained extensive on‑site experience with Dexel Developments, one of the city’s most recognized builders, where Brent continued to grow from intern to lead project manager and architect, refining his passion for designing buildings that fit their context while standing out through thoughtful detailing and a strong sense of place. Brent also worked for two years as the Senior Architect for the province of Nova Scotia, strenghtening his passion for community design.
